Manhattan in Lufkin

I've only been here one time for lunch and maybe it was just a bad day but to be frank it just wasn't very good and we had a 3 course meal with wine and I say that with my brother being a good lifelong friend of the owner so it's not any kind of personal issue just a true review of my experience. It's also in the most inconvenient of locations, I can't remember which but it's either in the basement of an old building downtown or on second or 3rd story, can't remember if we went up or down on the elevator. But it's inconvenient so much so that you completely forget it's there or I might would try it again.

The waiter basically read my mind every time he came to the table. The food was magnificent. Even though I didn't get any they have a tremendous selection of wines.

Very nice and elegant atmosphere. Easy to miss if you are not already looking for it. It is well worth the hunt, and the service was spectacular! 2 dined in had appetizer, 2 meals and 2 desserts with wine bill was still less than $80 of course like anywhere else it will depend on what you order.

This place is an amazing hidden treasure we stumbled upon. Yes expensive! But worth every single dollar! Everything is prime! Everything is cooked to perfection. Everything is so tasteful, and does not require a single bit of seasoning, because of the investment the kitchen put into your taste buds. Fine dining atmosphere, but treated us no differently, because we were in t-shirt and jeans. Excellent service!

Always impressed with the quality of the service, food and wine selection. So happy that Lufkin has a restaurant of this stature. The night we were there (on a Tuesday), it was packed!! Lufkin needs to support this establishment. So different from all the fast food restaurants that Lufkin seems to be best known for.

I would give a 2.5 because this place was extraordinarily average. The best part of the restaurant is the atmosphere. With the 50s feel and decorations. Great cocktails but average food. Once you take the food out of the restaurant you have bland and unappealing food. The veal that I got was overcooked, tough and greasy. The ganache was dry and brittle instead of moist and succulent. The best part of visiting the establishment was the cosmopolitan. So if you want to visit to pay a lot and get a little I would recommend this restaurant but other than that I would steer clear.

This upscale restaurant in the basement of the old Perry Building in downtown Lufkin has the vibe of a speakeasy from the 20's. The owner/manager is extremely accommodating and strives to ensure you have a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

Was not expecting to find a fine dining in Lufkin. Love the basement speakeasy jazz vibe. The veal Roy style was fantastic.

Was disappointed in atmosphere... food wasn't that great and the prices are expensive.. not only that but they charged me 3 times!! I had to wait several days to finally get a refund once it reflected.... not somewhere we will go back too.. thanks but no.

GOOD Food at a good price

I'm new in town and I'm so so glad I ran across this gem in downtown Lufkin. Great atmosphere, personable and superb waiting staff, and the food..... wow! The steak was perfectly cooked and sides, all delicious. Very pleasant owner who made sure all were satisfied and happy, by walking around and speaking to each table. It's been a long time I've enjoyed a fine dining with excellence across the board.

A top site for delicious quality meals. Will surely make a return trip. The place has an awesome feel to it.

Fantastic food, service, and atmosphere! Just as good as any of the best steakhouses in Houston without the high prices. Make sure to go on Friday night to hear the excellent singer. We'll be coming back

Love this special fine dining restaurant. Great food, service & atmosphere.

Best filet mignon ever. Filet Mignon topped with Crab and bearnaise sauce, asparagus wrapped in bacon and buttered potato quarters. Walked in at 9 pm closing time and the owner welcomed us in and the service was superb. This is a new favorite for me.

This place was quiet and quaint. We had the best steak. A Manhattan steak with goat cheese and prosciutto. It was a special for the evening. The staff was friendly and attentive. By far the best meal we have had in the Lufkin area. The restaurant was clean and elegant without a fussy atmosphere. You go into the elevator and go downstairs and step into this dark but cozy restaurant. Our waitress was eager to talk about the food and her favorites. She was personable and cheery. What a great evening

My wife’s and my absolute favorite restaurant to visit for special occasions. Located in downtown Lufkin in the basement of a building so it is kind of hidden. Excellent, fresh food with a variety of dishes to choose from and generous portions. Everything we have tried has been amazing! Very intimate atmosphere, tastefully decorated. Everyone that works here is on top of their game which makes for a great dining experience. Live music most nights we go. The owner has always been there every time we have visited and he makes a point to talk with us and make sure we’ve been taken care of. Very nice guy. Highly recommend Manhattan Fine Dining Restaurant if you have not yet given it a try.

Enjoyed a wonderful lunch for our 50th wedding anniversary. Destin provided a great steak and delicious seafood with all the trimmings. Manhatten of Lufkin competes with the best of Houston & Dallas!

Outstanding service, escargot was delicious; salads fresh. My wife loved her Ribeye ala Vodka, and my Linguini Arabiata was zesty. Only downfall was espresso machine out of order...

A top spot for quality Quality Meals. Filled me up. Had a friend come into town and asked me to take him here again. This place has a good design. Food is like a place in Baltimore I loved.

Food was amazing. Best food in town in my opinion. Great service. Just not a huge fan of the songs the lady sang for their live music. Normally I wouldn't mind sad songs about heartbreak, but it was a little odd for a Valentine's Day dinner lol. Overall though crawfish appetizers were very good, the filet was top notch and the mashed potatoes were incredible. As for the tiramisu, it was the perfect end to a delicious meal!

Before attending concert at Pines, decided to dine at Manhattans. Great choice. Actually prices not bad for presentation and quality of food. Our waitress Karlene was on her game, made the experience special. Thanks to the gentleman checking on our needs.

Great atmosphere, nice owner, good wait staff. The steak is very well prepared, but I'm not a fan of French food when it comes to steak, I prefer no sauce. The Italian fare is amazing!

I had the wonderful privilege of dining at this fabulous restaurant during the Christmas holiday season. My Mother and her friend took me there while I was visiting them from North Carolina. The owner, Destin Sabani, de-boned my entree of Fillet of Sole; table side with two forks. It was impressive as it was delicious! Thank you, thank you, thank you for such a wonderful experience!

The ambiance is very inviting. Classy looks, and polite man asking how we were. That said the food was horrible....we had the Chicken Marsala...first came the salad and it had tasted like old refrigerator. The bread seemed like it was defrosted and not cooked properly. Then when the main course came the color I could tell it was wrong. The color of the sauce was off. The vegetables were really over cooked, except the broccoli was under cooked. The mushrooms were a little crunchy. Lufkin's beat kept secret should remain a secret....
